LifeSiteNews.com is reporting that Annabelle Morin of Quebec died on December 9, 2008 after receiving the second dose of Gardasil, a vaccine developed to protect against two strains of the sexually transmitted human papillomavirus (HPV) which are known to cause cervical cancer.
According to Linda Morin, Annabelle's mother, her daughter received the first shot at a clinic in October, 2008, after which time her daughter vomited, became confused and incoherent and was unable to speak or walk. Annabelle was taken to hospital where she was diagnosed with a migraine and sent home.
According to the lawsuit, Annabelle received a second dose of Gardasil at school on Nov. 24, 2008, and once again became ill.
Two weeks later, she was found dead in the bathtub.
“I was shocked. I didn’t know what to do,” Linda Morin told QMI Agency. “This image will stay in my head for the rest of my life. It’s a nightmare. We often say that time heals things (but) time hasn’t healed anything yet.”
The parents are suing Merck Frosst Pharmaceutical, the clinic where Annabelle received the first dose of Gardasil, a pediatrician named Guylaine Larose, neurologist Amelie Nadeau and the family doctor, Lynne Nadeau.
Mrs. Morin claims she was never informed either by Merck or the clinic of the side-effects or adverse events linked to the vaccine, and says the doctors who treated her daughter were negligent.
As of September 30, 2009, the Public Health Agency of Canada received a total of 603 reports of adverse events following vaccination with Gardasil, which included twenty-two hospitalizations and one death, according to their website.
The numbers in the U.S. are considerably higher. Since the drug’s introduction in 2006, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) has received more than 18,700 reports of adverse side effects related to Gardasil. These reports include serious adverse effects including Guilliane Barre, lupus, seizures, paralysis, blood clots, brain inflammation, severe fatigue and weakness, heart problems, shortness of breath, chest pains and many more.
At last count, there have been at least 82 reported deaths connected with Gardasil - 26 new deaths occurring just in 2010, as per records secured via the freedom of information act by Judicial Watch.
“Deadly blood clots, acute respiratory failure, cardiac arrest and ‘sudden death due to unknown causes’ have all occurred in girls shortly after they’ve received the Gardasil vaccine,” said Dr. Joseph Mercola to LifeSite. “These are atrocious risks to potentially prevent cervical cancer one day down the road. Because let’s not forget that the HPV vaccine has not yet been proven to actually prevent any kind of cancer.”
The vaccine only protects against two of the more common strains of HPV associated with cancer, HPV-16 and HPV-18, even though at least 15 different strains are known to cause cancer.
He concluded: “The bottom line is that Gardasil is largely ineffective, potentially very dangerous, and a major waste of money.”
