The Daily Mail is reporting that the photo was taken by Randy Atkins, whose wife Alicia was being delivered of a baby daughter, Nevaeh, by Caesarean section on October 9. During the procedure, the baby's hand poked out and grabbed the doctor's finger.
According to husband Randy, "The doctor called me over and said, 'Hey, she's grabbing my finger.' So I ran over there and just grabbed the shot and I was just in awe looking at it. It was such an amazing picture."
His wife, who is a professional photographer who owns A Classic Pin-Up photo studio, posted the image on her company's Facebook page on December 26 for family and friends to see.
She wrote on the page: "This was 10 weeks ago when I was having my c-section and Dr. Sawyer broke my water and my daughter reached up out of my stomach and grabbed the Dr.'s finger and my hubby caught this special moment."The proud parents are astonished at the overwhelming response to the photo from around the world. Much to their surprise, the photo has received over 7,000 likes and more than 3,000 shares along with hundreds of comments - all of them marveling at this poignant reminder of the miracle of life.
