Once again, the abortion industry is using the courts to silence all opposition to their activities as Planned Parenthood files a lawsuit against the pro-life journalist who exposed their baby parts business.
According to LifeNews.com, Planned Parenthood filed a racketeering lawsuit against David Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress yesterday, accusing him of being part of “a complex criminal enterprise conceived and executed by anti-abortion extremists.”
According to the lawsuit, “The express aim of the enterprise — which stretched over years and involved fake companies, fake identifications, and large-scale illegal taping — was an effort to demonize Planned Parenthood,” the lawsuit says.
The suit is seeking treble damages as well as punitive damages and attorney fees, all of which could add up to millions of dollars.
According to a press release from the Life Legal Defense Foundation, Planned Parenthood is being represented by an international law firm—one of the largest in the nation—with headquarters in Washington, D.C.
In response to the suit, Daleiden called the suit “frivolous” and told BuzzFeed News by email: “Game on! I look forward to taking the depositions of all the Planned Parenthood CEO’s who profited off of their relationship with StemExpress.”
He also noted the troubles Planned Parenthood is currently facing. They are under investigation by the United States Congress and multiple law enforcement agencies, their business is drying up and the public is turning against their barbaric abortion for baby parts trade.
“Now they are filing a frivolous lawsuit in retaliation for CMP’s First Amendment investigative journalism that has done nothing more than tell the truth about Planned Parenthood’s lawless operations," Daleiden said in a statement. "This last-ditch move of desperation is going to expose all of the sordid dealings of the California Planned Parenthood affiliates to the light of the legal system and the public will see them for the corrupt abortion and baby body parts profiteers that they really are.”
Alexandra Snyder, Executive Director at the Life Legal Defense Foundation, which is helping to defend Daleiden, said her firm was not surprised that Planned Parenthood filed such a lawsuit.
“Daleiden’s videos have raised serious questions regarding Planned Parenthood’s integrity that have resulted in a congressional investigation and calls to withdraw over $500 million in taxpayer funding from the organization,” Snyder said. “Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress have exposed Planned Parenthood’s willingness to engage in unethical and criminal conduct and now the organization is doing everything in its power to silence the messenger.”
This is bound to be long and expensive lawsuit and concerned citizens are being encourage to support efforts to defend Daleiden with prayer and financial assistance.
