Poll: Younger Americans Now as Pro Life as Seniors

A new Gallup poll has found that the abortion industry is losing ground among the next generation of Americans with people in the 18 to 29 age bracket now more likely than their elders to believe abortion should be illegal in all circumstances.
According to data released last week, polling conducted over the last five years shows that 74 percent of Americans age 18 to 29 say abortion should be illegal in all circumstances or legal only under certain circumstances. Only 24 percent of the people polled in this age bracket say abortion should be legal under all circumstances.
The only age group that comes close to these numbers is the 65 or older bracket where 80 percent of respondents believe abortion should be illegal or curtailed.
Among Americans age 50 to 64, 72 percent want to see abortion made illegal or curtailed.
Respondents in the 30 to 49 age group registered the highest number of those who want abortion to be legal under all circumstances (28%) with 70 percent of respondents saying it should be outlawed or curtailed.
Among those who say they support abortion under any circumstance, long-term Gallup tracking shows that “ . . . (A)ll age groups became more supportive of legal abortion under any circumstances in the early 1990s, and all subsequently shed some of that support in the late 1990s, with further decline seen since then.”
