As of today, only 44 percent of Americans approve of President Barack Obama’s job performance, which is the lowest approval rating tracked thus far.
Rasmussen is reporting that the Presidential Tracking Poll for today shows that only 44 percent of the nation's voters say they at approve at least somewhat of the president’s job performance, with 55 percent saying they disapprove.
Even more alarming is an erosion of support among the president’s base. The poll showed that only 49 percent of Democrats strongly approve of the president’s performance, down from 65 percent after passage of the health care reform.
Rasmussen also found that the number of Americans wanting to repeal the health care law has soared to its highest level yet - 63 percent. Prior to today, support for repeal hovered at the 55-58 percent mark.
The poll also found that only 27 percent of likely voters are even somewhat confident that Congress knows what it’s doing with the nation’s economy.
Most Americans have “come to believe that the political system is broken, that most politicians are corrupt, and that neither major political party has the answers,” observes Scott Rasmussen. Forty-one percent (41%) of voters say that a group of people randomly selected from the phone book would do a better job than the current Congress.
