Pro-Life Women Not Welcome at Women’s March

Organizers of the Women’s March, scheduled to take place in Washington DC on January 21, have issued a statement making it clear that pro-life organizations will not be welcome at the March.

According to National Review, organizers of the Women’s March issued a statement late yesterday afternoon in which they defended their decision to remove the name of the pro-life New Wave Feminist group from their list of official sponsors.

“The Women’s March platform is pro-choice and it has been that way from day one. We want to assure all of our partners, as well as participants, that we are pro-choice as stated in our Unity Principles. We look forward to marching on behalf of individuals who share the view that women deserve the right to make their own reproductive decisions. The anti-choice organization in question is not a part of the Women’s March on Washington. We apologize for the error.”

In other words, this march only represents women who think the right to make their own reproductive choices means supporting abortion. Women who exercise the right to make their own reproductive choices by opting to keep their babies or offering them up for adoption are not welcome.

As Destiny Herndon-De La Rosa of New Wave Feminists told LifeSiteNews  that's not going to stop them from attending. “It appears that the [Women's March on Washington] only wants to include a ‘diverse’ array of women who think exactly like them,” she said. “That’s unfortunate, but we will not be deterred.”

Pro-life women aren’t known for caving to the opposition, however, and many others are also planning to attend the march regardless of whether or not they are welcome.

new wave feminists 2Women from pro-life groups such as the Stanton Policy Center, Sound Legal Group and other pro-life groups from across the nation are planning to converge on the march and let their voices be heard. These groups are planning to meet at the Supreme Court at 9:00 a.m. ET and march in unison to the Women’s March rally.

Brandi Swindell, an organizer of the pro-life participation in the March for Women and founder of Stanton Healthcare and Stanton Policy Center, said:

“As a woman who has spent most of her life standing up against injustice in the world and promoting the dignity of women and the sanctity of every human life, I am thrilled to be a part of the Women’s March. We are entering into a critical time in our nation and women deserve to be a part of the discussions and to have their voices heard.”

Catherine Glenn Foster, Civil Rights Attorney and founder of Sound Legal Group said: "The Women's March on Washington claims to be about human rights, nonviolence, and confronting injustice. But by accepting Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and other abortion activism organizations as co-sponsors, the Women's March on Washington has betrayed its mission and failed to confront the injustice in front of its face. Human rights and nonviolence apply to everyone, regardless of age and disability, and are most powerful and most urgent when serving those who need it most. It's time for the Women's March to speak up for all women."

Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood employee and founder of And Then There Were None, is planning to attend the march to protest Planned Parenthood.

“As a former director of a Planned Parenthood facility, I will be there to talk about the corruption inside this organization who proclaims to ‘care about women’,” Johnson said in a statement. “I am hoping to send the true feminist message that life empowers women and that women do not need the manipulative services offered by our country’s largest abortion provider.”

Contrary to the March for Life which will be held on January 27 and bring twice as many women into Washington DC (although you won’t hear a word about it on the Nightly News) these brave women aren’t the least bit intimidated by being in the minority at this weekend’s march.

Not everyone has the guts to follow these women into battle on Saturday, but New Wav Feminists understand this completely and has no problem representing them by standing up to the haters.

“ . . . We've had some practice,” they reassured on their Facebook page and offered a parting shot to the March organizers. “ . . . See ya’ Saturday!”
