Surely it is not I, Lord?

April 11
One of the Twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot,
went to the chief priests and said,
"What are you willing to give me
if I hand him over to you?"
They paid him thirty pieces of silver,
and from that time on he looked for an opportunity to hand him over.
On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread,
the disciples approached Jesus and said,
"Where do you want us to prepare
for you to eat the Passover?"
He said,
"Go into the city to a certain man and tell him,
'The teacher says, "My appointed time draws near;
in your house I shall celebrate the Passover with my disciples."'"
The disciples then did as Jesus had ordered,
and prepared the Passover.
When it was evening,
he reclined at table with the Twelve.
And while they were eating, he said,
"Amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me."
Deeply distressed at this,
they began to say to him one after another,
"Surely it is not I, Lord?"
He said in reply,
"He who has dipped his hand into the dish with me
is the one who will betray me.
The Son of Man indeed goes, as it is written of him,
but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed.
It would be better for that man if he had never been born."
Then Judas, his betrayer, said in reply,
"Surely it is not I, Rabbi?"
He answered, "You have said so."
-Matthew 26:14-25

Will you lay down your life?

April 10
Palm Sunday
Simon Peter said to him, "Master, where are you going?"
Jesus answered him,
"Where I am going, you cannot follow me now,
though you will follow later."
Peter said to him,
"Master, why can I not follow you now?
I will lay down my life for you."
Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for me?
Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow
before you deny me three times."
-John 13:36-38

The Lord is near

December 16
"Brothers and sisters: Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice! Your kindness should be known to all.
The Lord is near. Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding
will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."
-Philippians 4:4-7
Today's Reflection:
Make your desires known to God today. And while you wait, rejoice in the moment. Trust Him with timing, and allow Him to fulfill all the desires of your heart!

Healing rays

November 17
"Lo, the day is coming, blazing like an oven,
when all the proud and all evildoers will be stubble,
and the day that is coming will set them on fire,
leaving them neither root nor branch,
 says the LORD of hosts.
But for you who fear my name, there will arise
the sun of justice with its healing rays."
-Malachi 3:19-20
Today's Reflection:
We long for the day when Jesus will come in all His glory and all will know that He is Christ the King. But for now, we must endure a world that is largely opposed to Him. Where do you find strength to persevere?

Inherit the kingdom

November 16
"Then the king will say to those at his right hand, ‘Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’"
-Matthew 25:34-36
Today's Reflection:
An earthly inheritance usually entails money, a house, and the belongings therein. Our heavenly inheritance is beyond anything we can ever imagine because it is the entering into the beatitude of God, our heavenly Father.

His kingdom

November 14
"I kept looking in the night visions, And behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming, And He came up to the Ancient of Days and was presented before Him. And to Him was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, That all the peoples, nations and men of every language might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion which will not pass away; And His kingdom is one which will not be destroyed."
-Daniel 7:13-14
Today's Reflection:
Do you ever think about eternity with God? What will it be like? Who do you expect to see there? Ponder these things for a few moments today.
