Teens Shoot Australian Baseball Player Just for Fun

Two Oklahoma teens were charged with first-degree murder yesterday after shooting a 22 year-old man who was visiting the country on a baseball scholarship, a crime they committed because they were "bored."

FoxNews.com is reporting on the shocking case of a young Australian student who was gunned down on August 16 while jogging along the streets of Duncan, Oklahoma by three teens who claimed they were bored and shot him "for the fun of it."

Two of the teens, 16 year-old Chancey Allen Luna, the alleged shooter, and 15 year-old James Francis Edwards, Jr. were charged as adults with first-degree murder. A third teen, 17 year-old Michael Jones, was charged with being an accessory to murder.

Prosecutor Jason Hicks, who called the boys "thugs", said they were riding in a car driven by Jones at the time of the murder. Luna, who was sitting in the back seat, shot Lane once in the back with a .22 calibur revolver as he was jogging along the road.

Police Chief Dan Ford said he believed Lane was chosen at random after he was seen running by the residence where the boys were hanging out. They got in a car and started following him, then shot him in the back and sped away. He said one of the suspects told officers that they were bored and had killed Lane for "the fun of it."

Police were able to track the teens down using surveillance video from a business near the scene of the shooting.

It was later discovered that one of the alleged killers had left a chilling message on Facebook: "Bang. Two drops in two hours." Police suspect there could be another victim somewhere and believe the teens were on a killing spree when they were caught.

Lane's girlfriend, Sarah Harper, posted an emotional tribute on the couple's Facebook page in which she called their four years together as "the most amazing of my life".

"From 2009 until forever you will always be mine and in a very special and protected place in my heart."

Peter Lane, father of the slain student, told Sky News his son's death was pointless.

"There's not going to be any good come out of this because it was just so senseless," he told reporters in Melbourne.

"There wasn't anything he did or could have done. He was an athlete going for a jog like he would do five or six days a week in terms of his training schedule. To try and understand it is a short way to insanity."

Meanwhile, Twitchy.com is reporting that Twitter is ablaze with furious tweets about why the President and black leaders such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton haven't come out and condemned the teens for shooting a white man.

@RoyLFisher writes: "Ok Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson! Please let us all know where and when the "justice for Chris Lane" rallies will be held?????"

@AnthonyCumia writes: "How many times did we hear #Trayvon was "shot for walking while black"? #ChrisLane was not assaulting anyone & was murdered. News? Hello?"
