Fox News is reporting on two little girls who were born at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns in Kearny Mesa, California.
Scarlett Annie was born at 11:56 p.m. on December 31, 2016 and her sister Virginia Rose arrived four minutes later – at midnight on January 1, 2017.
The parents were identified only as Brittany and Brett.
Not too far away, in Glendale, Arizona, USA Today is reporting on the birth of twin boys Everett and Sawyer Shay who also chose to arrive in different years.
Born to Holly and Brandon Shay of Glendale, Arizona, Sawyer arrived at 11:50 p.m. on December 31, 2016 but his brother Everett didn’t enter the world until 11 minutes later, thus arriving on January 1, 2017.
"It was a perfect birth," said Holly Shay, who came to the hospital at 5:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
"Everett might disagree but that's because he's just stubborn," the proud father, Brandon Shay, told The Republic. "He was hanging on until after midnight."
The boys are fraternal twins, not identical. Sawyer weighed in at 5lbs. 5 oz. and Everett was slightly smaller at 4lbs. 8 oz. Even though Sawyer is heavier, Everett is longer.
The Shays also have two daughters, ages 4 and 13.
Mom and dad say the feel “very blessed” by how smoothly the delivery went and are looking forward to raising their rare little bundles of joy.
