Sarah Palin Launches Political Action Committee

The popular pro-life Alaskan Governor and former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin has taken a step closer to a future run for national office by establishing SarahPAC, a political action committee that will help finance her future political plans.
“SarahPAC believes the Republican Party is at the threshold of a historic renaissance that will build a better future for all,” the SarahPAC.com Web site announced Tuesday. “Health care, education, and reform of government are among our key goals.”
According to the Anchorage Daily News, SarahPAC was registered on Jan. 26 with the Federal Election Commission. Pam Pryor, who worked as a liaison between the McCain-Palin presidential campaign and the Republican National Committee, is now serving as a volunteer spokeswoman for the new PAC.
The goal of the committee, according to its Web site, is to "make it possible for Gov. Palin to continue to be a strong voice for energy independence and reform. SarahPAC will support local and national candidates who share Gov. Palin's ideas and goals for our country."
But it will also allow Palin to more easily differentiate between her political activity and her gubernatorial duties, Pryor said. She can use the money raised by the political committee to donate to other like-minded candidates or to incur travel expenses on behalf of them. She also can use it to pay for her own political activities unrelated to her official job.
Why start the PAC now? “As a new president takes office and begins to lead our country, Gov. Palin believes that every one of us has a duty and responsibility in this time of economic crisis and international challenge,” the site says. “Each one of us must step up to the plate, get involved in the spirit of renaissance and renewal that is critical to America's success. “
