Due to the recall of two Pfizer brands of birth control pills this week due to defective packaging, a doctor on NBC's Today show recommended that women that use other options for the time being, such as condoms and over-the-counter "termination kits."
Newsbusters is reporting that the new sanitized language for the controversial morning-after pill was used by Dr. Keri Peterson, an internist and contributor to Women's Health magazine, during an interview with NBC's Ann Curry.
The show was about a recall of one million packs of birth control pills by Pfizer after it was discovered that the inactive pills used at the end of the cycle were mixed in with the active pills, and vice versa, which means women could become pregnant if using these particular pills. The brands involved are Lo/Ovral 28 and Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol.
After explaining the problem, Dr. Peterson was asked, "And if you have been using these lots and you're concerned that you may be now vulnerable to being pregnant is there an option?"
Peterson responded: "If you're vulnerable, first off, see your doctor right away to get a pregnancy test. You're going to want to use condoms immediately as a backup form and there are also – there are also over-the-counter termination kits available that you can take right away if you do think that you are pregnant."
In other words, women have the option to abort their days-old child, but Peterson could never say that on the air because proponents of abortion never use such direct language. They prefer to create gimmicky catch-phrases that obfuscate the truth and make the destruction of innocent human life seem like an acceptable and even reasonable "choice."
But none of this was discussed on Wednesday's NBC Today show, nor did the network dare to mention the enormous controversy currently raging over the Obama Administration's new rule that will force religious employers to purchase insurance plans that will provide these very same "termination kits" free-of-charge.
This rather glaring omission was pointed out by Newsbusters. "While NBC was quick to sound the alarm on ineffective contraception, the network has been silent on the growing controversy over the Obama administration mandating that religious institutions provide employees with health care coverage for contraceptives under ObamaCare."
The outside chance that a few batches of faulty pills might leave some women pregnant is considered more important than a growing national scandal involving the infringement of First Amendment rights for millions of Americans who are being forced to pay for them.
How's that for bias?
