Father Benedict Groeschel has publicly announced that he suffered a minor stroke in mid-March which has left him with some speech difficulties.
According to a report by the National Catholic Register, Fr. Groeschel made the announcement on Sunday evening during his regularly scheduled talk show on the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN). He said the stroke occurred during the night of March 20-21.
At the beginning of the show, Fr. Groeschel’s speech was obviously impaired but improved as the hour progressed. He said his speech difficulties lessen as he continues to speak.
He said he decided to go ahead with his regularly scheduled program in order to inspire other viewers who might be suffering in some way not to give up.
His prognosis is apparently good because he announced that he is beginning a new series on the network soon.
