Parishes Provide Perpetual Adoration to Olympians

In order to insure that all Olympians have access to our Eucharistic Lord during their stay in London, three parishes have joined together to provide 24-hours of Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

According to CNA/EWTN News, continuous adoration began on Monday, July 30, and will continue until the games end on August 12.

“We’re flying the flag for Christ if you like,” said Franciscan Father Francis Conway of St. Francis of Assisi Friary in Stratford, to CNA.

“We will have Eucharistic adoration from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., when another East End parish will take over from 6 p.m. till late, and then a third parish will continue through the night until we take over again at 9 a.m.,” Fr. Conway explained.

The two other parishes participating are Our Lady and St. Catherine of Siena in Bow and St. Antony of Padua in Forest Gate.

The parishes of London’s East End were particularly suited to the task because many immigrant communities have settled in the area, which makes them multi-cultural and multi-lingual.

Over the next two weeks, the parish is planning to host a series of events such as prayer evenings and healing services, which is all part of the Catholic Church in England’s outreach to the 30th Olympiad. © All Rights Reserved, Living His Life Abundantly®/Women of Grace®  http://www.womenofgrace.com
