The Washington Examiner is reporting that at least 480 of Planned Parenthood's 750 health and abortion clinics across the country will be covered under Obamacare, which puts an additional demand on insurers who formerly covered only doctors and health facilities. The new law now requires that they cover at least 20 percent of "essential community providers" in their coverage area, including Planned Parenthood clinics, AIDS clinics, pain management centers and even alternative medicine providers.
The Examiner's Paul Bedard scoured a recently released list of approved community health providers distributed by the Department of Health and Human Services and counted 480 Planned Parenthood clinics along with nearly 100 AIDS clinics. Other clinics include family planning centers, teen services, teen pregnancy centers, lesbian and gay centers, high school clinics and jails.
Even though ObamaCare is not supposed to cover abortions, unless a state explicitly blocks this coverage, people in those states will subsidize it because the new law bypasses the Hyde Amendment, the law which prohibits the government from funding abortion.
According to LifeNews, at least 18 states–Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin–have enacted legislation to ban abortion coverage in state exchanges. Others, including Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Texas, have similar laws in the works. (New Jersey tried, but failed, to pass a measure last year.)
Although they may not realize it, people living elsewhere will be paying for abortions and all of us will be paying insurance coverage for Planned Parenthood's abortion business and other services which violate the consciences of Christians.
