It was only the intervention of a neighbor that prevented a 17 year old practitioner of black magic from stabbing his siblings to death.
According to a report by NBCNewYork.com, a troubled teen claimed he was seeing demons when he allegedly attacked his younger brothers and a sister this week in their Bronx apartment.
Police say Nelson Santos, 17, attacked his two brothers, ages 13 and six, and his nine year old sister with a knife. The boy, who was known to practice black magic, was said to be in a "zombie-like trance" at the time of the stabbings.
Neighbors were alerted when 13-year-old Miguel Santos, who was drenched in blood after being stabbed nearly half a dozen times, ran out of the apartment to call for help. A neighbor, John Flores, 19, said Nelson Santos was chasing his younger brother with “a big kitchen knife about as long as my forearm” while screaming something about Armageddon.
Flores wrestled with Santos to stop him while his mother, Delila, was able to get the knife out of his hands.
After being arrested on assault charges, Nelson was taken to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
All of the victims were transported to St. Barnabas Hospital where the youngest, James, 6, was hospitalized in serious condition. Both the 13-year-old boy and his sister were listed in stable condition with wounds to the torso and lacerations to the chest.
