The son of the infamous abortionist who owned the "House of Horrors" abortion clinic in Philadelphia was shot while robbing a home belonging to a group of college students.

NBCPhiladelphia.com is reporting that Gosnell's son, Barron Alexander, 22, was shot several times early Wednesday morning after one of the students woke up and caught him stealing from their home.

Alexander, who changed his name two years ago because he was unable to get employment due to the horrific nature of his father's crimes, had broken into the home twice before, stealing an X-Box and a lap top. He was caught during the third break-in when one of the three residents in the home woke up and caught him in the act.

"He was taking items from the property and a resident from the property woke up startled," said Police Capt. John Przepiorka. "A struggle started at that point, the resident screamed for help."

A second resident responded and shot Alexander several times.He was later taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he remains in critical but stable condition.

Alexander's father, Dr. Kermit Gosnell, is currently serving three life sentence without the possibility for parole after being convicted of killing three babies born alive after abortions at his West Philadelphia clinic. The sanitary conditions of the clinic, which were so sordid investigators dubbed the clinic a "house of horrors", brought shame to the Pennsylvania Department of Health for failing to inspect the site and touched off a national drive to tighten abortion clinic regulations.

Alexander is facing several charges including robbery, burglary, aggravated assault and receiving stolen goods.
