A three-year old girl who was resuscitated after she was found floating face-up in the family pool woke up to tell her parents that she saw a bright light and a man with long hair before being revived.
WMCActionNews5.com is reporting that little Ella Kimbro from Gibson County, Tennessee apparently climbed into the family swimming pool to save her cat when she fell in and drowned. She was found by her parents, Johnny and Christy Kimbro, only after Christy noticed her youngest was no longer playing with the other children.
That's when she looked over at the pool and Ella floating face up on the water.
"She was blue, she was cold. I pulled her out of the pool. She wasn't breathing," said Christy. "I thought she was dead when I first saw her. I remember yelling ‘Oh My God, she's dead!'"
Her father said his daughter's pupils were dilated and he could not find a pulse.
He immediately started CPR and, after a few minutes, Ella regained consciousness.
She was immediately airlifted to LeBonheur Children's Hospital she was sedated and put on a ventilator for five days.
When she woke up, she overheard her mother recounting the events of the accident to friends and corrected her.
"She said, 'No, Mommy. My cat fell in the pool and I was saving my kitty'," Christy told the State Gazette. "She said she went under the water and was yelling, but water kept getting in her mouth and she drowned. But, then she said, 'I saw a light come on and a man. Then the light went off.'"
Christy believes the moment the light went off is when her husband brought her back through CPR.
"She's never heard about a 'bright light'. She's three so for her to say that was mind-blowing," continued Christy.
Even more amazing was when Christy's sister showed Ella a picture of Jesus and her daughter promptly said: 'That's the man I saw. He was with me when I drowned'."
Ella has fully recovered and suffered no brain damage as a result of her near-death.
On Sunday, Christy Kimbro posted this on the family's Facebook page: "Today marks one month since we almost lost our only daughter. One month of constant paranoia that something bad is gonna happen again. One month of reliving that day over and over again daily. But most importantly one month since GOD gave us a second chance. I do believe in miracles and I get the honor of calling one MY DAUGHTER! Thank you GOD for you many blessings."
