Anti-Catholic Bigots Attack Senate Candidate

miloscia adCommentary by Susan Brinkmann, OCDS

A Republican Senate candidate in the state of Washington is the recipient of an offensive anti-Catholic campaign by an anonymous person who launched a website accusing him of "representing the people of the Vatican" rather than the citizenry simply because he's Catholic.

The Olympian is reporting on the anonymous smear campaign launched against Mark Miloscia, a Republican candidate for the Senate who switched parties because he could no longer tolerate the way Democrats treat people of faith.

The ad on the website features a cartoon image of Miloscia wearing a bishops mitre and holding a rosary, referring to him as Pope Mark.

The ad also shows him carrying a suitcase with a Confederate flag emblazoned on the front, dubbing him "Mississippi Mark" because he was born in Mississippi.

The website, which now features only Miloscia's positions on issues such as abortion, same-sex marriage, and sex education, includes JFK's quote about making religion subservient to the Constitution and questions whether Miloscia will serve the people first or "his own version of his religion."

It also references the "manufactured outrage" caused by the site's despicable bigotry, saying the "facts are still the facts."

Bill Donohue of the Catholic League says that while it is not certain who posted this anti-Catholic political ad, "We will do what we can to get to the bottom of this."

He also called for the state's Democratic leadership to publicly denounce the ad.

The anonymous poster of this cowardly attack, who is currently hiding under his or her desk somewhere, is just another example of how the politically correct think they can treat people they disagree with like this and be something other than what they are - bigots.
