A 35 year-old man with a lengthy criminal record and an obsession with demons and exorcism has been charged with the brutal murder of a two-year old girl known only as “Baby Doe” until her decomposing body was finally identified.

FoxNews.com is reporting on the heartbreaking case of the toddler whose decomposing body was found wrapped in a blanket near Boston Harbor in June.

It was only after police received a trip from a friend of Rachelle Bond, 40, the child’s mother, and her live-in boyfriend, 35 year-old Michael McCarthy, that police were able to identify the body as that of Bella Bond.

Authorities now say that McCarthy, who was obsessed with demons and exorcism, killed the child one night when she didn’t want to go to bed.

Prosecutors say Bond told the unidentified friend that Bella was unwilling to go to bed one night and McCarthy offered to calm her down. When Bond later checked on the child, she found McCarthy standing over her with his hand on her abdomen and her head appearing “swollen and gray.”

Bond said he told her that Bella “was a demon anyway and it was her time to die.”

He then put the child’s body in a contractor’s bag and stuffed it into the refrigerator for several days while the couple indulged in heroin. Later, McCarthy put weights in the bag and tossed it into the water.

It was a chilling end to what now appears to have been a short and painful life for the little girl who was allegedly abused by the couple in various ways. The friend who would eventually go to police said he had lived with the couple last winter but moved out because he was “appalled” at how they treated Bella.

He said they would yell at her and demean her. He also witnessed the child being locked in a closet for a half hour on at least two occasions. Bella screamed to be let out but McCarthy told the friend that “she was possessed by demons and that’s why she required that punishment.

Later, after he moved out, the friend said that he heard child protective services had taken Bella away from the couple. However, Bond had stopped using drugs and he reportedly congratulated her and said she would probably get her daughter back now.

It was at this point that she made her confession. “I’ll never see my daughter again,” Bond allegedly replied. “Michael McCarthy killed her and I’m an accessory after the fact because I helped get rid of the body.”

During the most recent court proceedings, McCarthy looked emotionless while the child’s father, Joseph Amoroso, looked on with tears in his eyes.

At one point during the proceedings, an unidentified woman screamed at the couple, “I hope you rot in hell!” and had to be escorted out of the courtroom.

Bond, who is being held on $1 million bail and has been charged as an accessory after the fact, is said to have cried several times during the proceedings.

It is certainly not hard to believe that investigators found books on demons and demonology while searching the couple's home. Only Satan himself could be this heartless!
