NYC Catholic Church to Participate in Gay Pride March

A Catholic church in New York City is listed as a participant in this weekend’s Gay Pride March even though Archbishop Timothy Dolan explicitly asked the parish not to do so.
Pewsitter.com is reporting that documents available on the NYC Pride website show St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church as a participant in the March.
“Last week we reported that Archbishop Dolan sent a letter to the pastor of St. Francis Xavier parish, requesting that the parish not participate in the March,” Pewsitter reports.
“In spite of his directive plans were still in the works for parish participation in this event. At the time that article was written the Lesbian and Gay Ministry group within the parish was continuing to promote the March and distributing flyers encouraging support.”
On the weekend of June 19, Archbishop Dolan was the main celebrant at a rededication Mass at the parish to mark the conclusion of a ten-year renovation project. After Mass, the Archbishop welcomed all the parish organizations, including gay, lesbian, and transgendered members.
This weekend’s march marks the end of a week-long celebration of gay culture in New York City in which the gay lifestyle was encouraged and promoted.
“The parade features clad men, men in drag, and host of other participants and floats that disparage traditional values and promote a lifestyle that is not only sinful but that is unhealthy,” the news site reports.
