By Susan Brinkmann, OCDS Staff Journalist The man suspected of being behind the leak of 90,000 classified Afghan war documents to Wikileaks is now known to have been a disgruntled homosexual activist who was furious over the military's policy on gays. According to the Telegraph, U.S. Army Private Bradley Manning, 22, did little to hide his sexual preference in the months leading up to the leaks when he used his Facebook page to vent about his ex-lovers. Beginning on Jan. 12 of this year, while stationed at a U.S. military base near Baghdad, he began posting gloomy messages such as "Bradley Manning didn't want this fight. Too much to lose, too fast." In May, he posted a message saying that he was  "livid" after being "lectured by ex-boyfriend", then later the same day said he was "not a piece of equipment" and was "beyond frustrated with people and society at large". Not long after this post, he was arrested on suspicion of leaking a video of a US helicopter attack. "In May, when U.S. authorities arrested Army Private Bradley Manning for leaking classified information to WikiLeaks.org, there were whispers that he was politically motivated," writes Family Research Council (FRC) president Tony Perkins. "It turns out that Manning is an extreme homosexual activist, whose fury over the services' homosexual policy may have led him to publicize highly classified documents about the wars." This raises the question of whether or not relaxed enforcement of the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" (DADT) policy, which would have discharged Manning once he revealed his homosexual leanings, may have been responsible for what many are calling one of the most damaging intelligence leaks in U.S. military history. If Manning was given a pass because his lifestyle was acceptable under the Obama Administration, then Manning's sedition may have given opponents of the repeal all the ammunition they need to kill the idea, Perkins says.  "Obviously, the Pentagon's 'relaxed enforcement' of DADT is putting the entire United States military is at risk of losing thousands of lives and the war. . . . Now that the enemy has access to American intelligence, our mission in the Middle East may be irreparably harmed--all because President Obama is less concerned with winning the war than he is with winning the far-Left's approval." Unfortunately for all of us, he says, Manning's betrayal painfully confirms what groups like the FRC have argued all along: the instability of the homosexual lifestyle is a detriment to military readiness. "By foisting this agenda on our soldiers, the White House is not only jeopardizing the future of national security but compromising its present."
