In a report appearing on Life News, Operation Rescue’s Cheryl Sullenger is reporting on the stinging rebuke just delivered to Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson, the so-called “pro-life Republican” who managed to get Planned Parenthood off without a charge for alleged trafficking of fetal body parts last year. At the same time, she had pro-life journalists David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt of the Center for Medical Progress indicted on trumped up charges that were later dropped when it was learned that Anderson had violated the law to indict them.
Unfortunately for Anderson, the citizens were not pleased with her performance and voted her out of office this past November.
Adding insult to injury, her predecessor, Kim Ogg, has decided it’s time to “drain the swamp” of the corruption that plagued Anderson’s staff while she was in office. As a result, she has notified 40 prosecutors that their services would no longer be needed.
Among them is Assistant District Attorney Sunni Mitchell who oversaw the 2013 grand jury involving the notorious “neck twisting” abortionist Doug Karpen. Mitchell also oversaw the 2015 Planned Parenthood/Daleiden grand jury.
“Her manipulation of both grand juries protected Karpen and Planned Parenthood from criminal prosecution,” Sullenger reports.
“Karpen was accused in a formal complaint filed by Operation Rescue of murdering babies born alive during shoddy abortion procedures, while two years later, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast was caught on film by Daleiden and Merritt haggling for the best price in exchange for aborted baby parts.”
Mitchell was eventually caught colluding with Planned Parenthood during the entire 2015 “investigation” which seemed to bring an end to the possibility of charges against the abortion giant until last week when the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee announced it had referred Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution.
“Apparently, the Judiciary Committee miraculously found the evidence Anderson said didn’t exist,” Sullenger writes.
Operation Rescue did not relent in its efforts to expose the corruption in Anderson’s office which is why these recent developments are so satisfying to one of the nation’s most powerful pro-life organizations.
“Part of what happens when we work to end the injustice of abortion is that corruption, which protects abortion abusers, is exposed,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “This serves to benefit everyone in society, even those who have little interest in abortion.”
Sullenger adds: “Now that Anderson and Mitchell have been sent packing, Operation Rescue has plans for the New Year. We are preparing to formally request a reopening of the murder investigation against Karpen once the new District Attorney takes office in January. Maybe with the swamp finally drained, justice can finally be found.”
Pro-lifers still have their work cut out for them, however. It's worth noting that Kim Ogg, a democrat who is married to a woman, is pro-abortion and received a $500,000 donation from George Soros during her campaign. She was also supported by Annie's List, an organization that seeks to help pro-choice women be elected to office.
It remains to be seen how Ogg will administer justice in Harris County but at least Anderson's duplicity and corruption are no longer an issue.
