A City University of New York (CUNY) professor is under fire today after sending out a tweetstorm of criticism of the “white nuclear family,” saying white couples who have babies and who leave their homes to their children are perpetuating the problem of white supremacy.FoxNews.com is reporting on the accusations made by Jessie Daniels, a sociology professor at CUNY who refers to herself as an expert on “the Internet manifestations of racism” and who sparked fury on social media after accusing white families of promoting racism by default.
Her argument began when she tweeted this weekend: “I mean, if you’re a white person who says they’re engaged in dismantling white supremacy but…you’re forming a white family [and] reproducing white children that ‘you want the best for’ - how is that helping [and] not part of the problem?”
She went on to argue that the white nuclear family is a key perpetrator of racism, even going so far as accusing multi-racial families as being part of the problem too if the white person in the relationship fails in “dealing [with] your own racism of systemic white supremacy.”
Daniels also suggested that “white people” should stop perpetuating inequality by leaving their homes to their children.
Prof. Jessie Daniels“Until white people are ready to confront their own family's racism (and) participation in systemic white supremacy, it's not getting dismantled,” she wrote. “Beyond just calling out interpersonal racism, white people who want to be engaged in the work need to ask themselves about housing wealth.”
She added: “White people: do you own your home? When you die, where's wealth in that house going? If it's to your children, you're reproducing (inequality).”
The professor responded to the criticism by locking her account and didn’t return the media’s calls for comment.
Racism is a serious issue in the United States and outlandish accusations such as these do little to correct the problem. Instead, it detracts from the gravity of the issue by playing the blame game and proposing nonsensical solutions that have no hope being realized in today’s world.
The bottom line is that people of all colors should be respected for who they, regardless of their skin color.
As the Catechism teaches, we are all created in the image of the one God and are equally endowed with rational souls.

This is why all forms of social or cultural discrimination based on race, sex, religion, social condition or language “must be curbed and eradicated as incompatible with God’s design.”
