Little Girl Sends Birthday Cake to Mom in Heaven

Facebook

Just when you thought the world couldn’t get any worse, along comes this heartwarming story of a little girl’s love for her deceased mother – and the community who made sure that her very special birthday wish could come true.

The Daily Mail is reporting on the story of Bella Graham, 4, of Edgewater, Florida, whose mother died two years ago of a pulmonary embolism. About a month ago, Bella began to worry about her mother’s upcoming birthday and how she wouldn’t be able to get a birthday cake in heaven.

Thankfully, Bella’s grandmother, Laura Fisher, who helps to take care of the little girl, runs a baking company called Lulu’s Cupcakes and More, and she realized that something had to be done to put Bella’s worries to rest.

Because she often bakes with her granddaughter, she decided that the two of them would bake a birthday cake for her mother, who would have been 30 years old on April 28, and mail it to heaven.

And so they got to work fashioning a beautiful little red velvet cake with vanilla icing, then packaged it securely in a plain brown box. Bella made a label for the front which read: “From Bella To: Mommy in Heaven.”

What Bella didn’t know is that Laura secretly contacted the Edgewater U.S. Post Office to explain what they were doing and solicit their help in getting the package “mailed.”

“They mail hundreds of thousands of letters to Santa every year,” Laura told WKMG. “Heaven isn't that much further!”

When Bella arrived at the post office with her very special parcel, the post office staff was ready and waiting. They opened up a special line which they claimed was only for people who were shipping to heaven. Bella immediately took her place in the line and handed over the package.

The box was stamped and the clerk informed Bella that it was guaranteed to arrive before her mother’s birthday.

The little girl was ecstatic.

Laura said she could see the “burden lifted off from Bella” when they left the post office.

“She was so happy, she gave me a high five and said ‘Mommy's getting her birthday cake, she's going to have a party!"' Laura told WESH 2. “They have no idea how much it meant to her, to be able to do that for her mom.”

Even though it seems like only the bad news makes the headlines, this story is a reminder that for every bit of bad news there are probably thousands of good news stories out there that make headlines in our hearts.

Keep the faith!
