Irish Priest Pleads: Pray the Rosary for Ireland!

With all of the powers of the world aligned in support of the repeal of Ireland’s 8th Amendment - which grants the unborn the right to life – a young Irish priest has put out an urgent call to the faithful around the world to call down the powers of heaven upon his country and prevent this important law from being overturned.

Father Marius O’Reilly’s impassioned plea on YouTube is going viral as the country of Ireland faces one of the most critical votes in history – whether or not to repeal a law that prohibits abortion on the grounds that both mother and child have an equal right to life. Thus far, it appears that the vote, which will be held on May 25, is skewing toward repeal, thanks to the intervention of powerful forces from Planned Parenthood to the European Union.

However, as Father O’Reilly explains, the Rosary played an important role in bringing about the Amendment in the first place, which is why he is pleading for the faithful to take up this powerful weapon once again for the good of his country.

“In 1979, St. John Paul visited Ireland and said, ‘You must protect life.’ He knew what was coming down the road,” Father O’Reilly said. “The Irish people took this very, very seriously and rosary crusades began all around the country.”

Shortly thereafter, the people proposed a referendum to the government to protect life and it was accepted. In 1983, the people voted 67% vs. 33% to add an amendment  to the Constitution that gave equal protection to both mother and child, thus giving the unborn a right to life.

“This was an incredible gift from God for our country because it meant that politicians couldn’t just bring in abortion whenever they wanted it,” Father said. “They would have to put it to the people.”

And now, in 2018, the people are being asked to vote on abortion.

“As you can imagine, billons and billions have been pumped into our country. The media are pushing and pushing abortion. The vast majority of politicians are pushing abortion. The huge wave of the United Nations, the European Union, and various other international organizations are pushing for abortion to be brought into Ireland,” Father said.

If the amendment is repealed, this would make Ireland one of the only countries in the world where the people voted to legalize abortion rather than have it imposed upon them by the courts.

“We can’t allow this to happen!” Father said. “And so I’m making an appeal to you today – please come to our assistance!”

He is specifically asking that the Rosary be prayed for Ireland, as well as offering Masses for this intention.

He also requested that those who can “spare some time this Sunday” between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. EST (1:30 to 4:00 p.m. Irish time) to join in prayer with the Irish people who will be gathering in eight locations throughout the country. Bishop Eamon Martin will join them via satellite from Lourdes, France to lead them in prayer.

“We will be asking God to have mercy on our country,” Father O’Reilly said. “We will be on bended knees before Him asking Him for pardon for the sins of our nation who has offended Him so greatly.”

We have seen the Rosary bring about far greater miracles than this so let us all take our “weapon” in hand during this crucial time in Ireland’s history!
