Burger King Hit With Boycott for Supporting Bigotry

Americans have had enough of so-called comedians who think it’s funny to use crudity to bash people of faith and those they don’t agree with – which is why Burger King is now under fire for continuing to advertise on the anti-Catholic Samantha Bee’s Full Frontal.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue is calling for a boycott of Burger King which has refused to stop advertising on Bee’s TBS show. The comedienne has been a consistent foe of the Church whose teachings she conveniently misrepresents in order to give her more material for jokes.

For example, in 2016, she was widely criticized for how she completely distorted the issue of Catholic healthcare, making it look as if moral and ethical guidelines for hospitals were throw together by a bunch of old men (bishops) who were out to harm women by denying them abortion and sterilization. “When I need reproductive advice from a virgin in a bathrobe, I’ll let you know,” Bee said.

What she doesn’t say is that priests and bishops don’t give “reproductive advice”; they merely explain Church teaching on human life.

She also launched into a crudity-laced attack on Archbishop Robert Carlson of St. Louis for his withdrawal of support for the Girl Scouts and their support of progressive ideologies. “If you don’t want girls getting knocked up and you won’t let them have contraception, you’d better teach the Boy Scouts to use some of those fancy knots on their [body parts],” Bee said.

The struggling comedienne, whose show has been in a ratings free-fall for some time now, also made vulgar remarks about Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary.

As a result, there has been a steady exodus of advertisers from her show. Verizon, Procter and Gamble, Wendy’s Ashley HomeStore and the Wonderful Company are the most recent to exit after Bee’s vile attack on Ivanka Trump on May 30.

However, Burger King refuses to go. It ran ads on July 25th and again on August 1.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue has written to Burger King CEO Daniel Schwartz asking him to withdraw advertising from the show, but to no avail.

Donohue has decided the time has come to take this to the next level.

“Any company that financially underwrites such a show does not deserve to be patronized. That is why I am calling for a boycott of Burger King,” Donohue announced on August 2.

“Wendy’s would be a good alternative for those accustomed to going to Burger King—it acted honorably by pulling its ads.”
