May nothing disturb my peace

September 30

"May the things of earth never be able to trouble my soul, and may nothing disturb my peace."

-St. Thérèse of Lisieux

Today's Reflection:

This sentiment of Thérèse reveals how carefully she kept her priorities in life. Whatever concerned her soul and her eternal destiny came first, everything else came second. For this reason, the things of earth were unable to disrupt her peace of soul. What are my priorities in life? Am I so caught up with the things of the world that I rarely reflect upon my eternal destiny? Do I consider the impact my actions of the day might have on my journey to heaven?

St. Thérèse, you lived every day with one foot in heaven and one foot on earth. Help me to arrange my priorities so that achieving heaven becomes more important than achieving the passing pleasures of the world.
