PBS Caught Doctoring Gaffe in Obama Speech

Commentary by Susan Brinkmann, OCDS Staff Journalist Biased press coverage isn't just leaning to the right or the left. In the case of the uber-liberal Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), it means actually doctoring the words spoken by Barack Obama to correct his mistakes. The American Thinker blog is reporting that President Barack Obama made a major gaffe during his Sept. 8  jobs speech - he identified Abraham Lincoln as being the founder of the Republican Party. This isn't true. In fact, Lincoln didn't join the party until 1856 - two years after it was founded. Fearing the president would be subjected to ridicule for this mistake, some members of the press took it upon themselves to doctor the transcript of the speech and correct the error. This is what the president actually said: "We all remember Abraham Lincoln as the leader who saved our Union.  Founder of the Republican Party.  But in the middle of a civil war, he was also a leader who looked to the future . . ."   The taxpayer funded PBS decided to rewrite history and recorded the speech with the error left out: "We all remember Abraham Lincoln as the leader who saved our Union.  But in the middle of a Civil War, he was also a leader who looked to the future . . . ."  "Such a gaffe would have brought huge amounts of ridicule and derision on George W. Bush, but in the case of Obama the media yawned," writes Timothy Birdnow for Thinker. " Sure; we have a fair and balanced media!" he adds, "The best government money can buy!" © All Rights Reserved, Living His Life Abundantly®/Women of Grace®  http://www.womenofgrace.com
