By Susan Brinkmann, OCDS Staff Writer A new poll is indicating that support for same-sex marriage is declining among the American population, with some blaming the behavior of activists after the California ballot initiative last November as causing the decline. A CBS-New York Times survey has revealed a nine point slippage in support for same-sex marriage. The poll, conducted June 12-16 found that support for same-sex marriage had dropped from a high of 42 percent in April to 33 percent. Thirty-two percent of Americans believe there should be no legal recognition of same-sex relationships with another 30 percent saying civil unions were okay. Some experts are blaming the declining support to the behavior of homosexual activists in the wake of California’s Proposition 8 ballot initiative as being the cause of the erosion.   "I think Americans really saw the intolerance that occurred after the Proposition 8 vote back in November," said Jenny Tyree of Focus on the Family Action to OneNewsNow.com. "They saw that many who want to redefine marriage were not really happy with what the people decided, and what the people decided in California was to continue to define marriage the way it has been defined."   After the election, activists “punished” people who voted for the measures by publishing their addresses, calling for boycotts of their businesses, and vandalizing churches. Several lawsuits were filed to try to overturn the voters' decision but failed when the California Supreme Court recently decided to uphold the vote of its citizens.
