Connecticut Law Could Force Homosexuality to be Taught in Schools

By Susan Brinkmann, OCDS Staff Writer One of the nation’s largest organizations in support of traditional marriage is urging the Connecticut General Assembly to reject a new bill that will allow same-sex marriage to be taught in schools and would remove a conscience protection clause that protects religious institutions from lawsuits demanding that they do the same.

Victory for Traditional Marriage in Hawaii and Vermont

The Governor of Vermont announced he will veto a same-sex marriage bill passed by the legislature this week and lawmakers in the state of Hawaii failed to come up with enough votes to release a civil unions bill from a committee in which it has been stalled.

California Supreme Court Likely to Uphold Proposition 8

by Susan Brinkmann, OCDS Staff Writer After several hours of oral arguments, justices on the California Supreme Court seemed unlikely to overturn Proposition 8, a Nov. 4 ballot initiative in which the people of California voted to amend their constitution to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
