By Susan Brinkmann, OCDS Staff Writer Clinics are popping up all over the world offering women face lifts and cosmetic injections using tissue from babies who have been killed by abortions. LifeNews.com is reporting that clinics in Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Moscow and Rotterdam are offering to help women look 10 years younger by using cells harvested from eight to 12 week-old fetuses. Once injected, these special cells supposedly undergo a rejuvenation process that makes the skin look younger. Even more horrific is the practice of paying women in underdeveloped nations up to $200 dollars to carry a baby up to the optimum eight to 12 week period when the babies are “harvested” for their stem cells, which are then sold to exclusive cosmetic clinics. One of these clinics, the Institute for Regenerative Medicine in Barbados, offers the treatments from the luxurious Villa Nova hotel which is frequented by wealthy British and American women. The practice is not only infuriating pro-life advocates, but scientists who favor embryonic stem cell research are also dismayed by the practice. UK stem-cell researcher Colin Blakemore told the London Daily Mail newspaper that the therapies are "highly experimental" and risk damaging the reputation of legitimate stem cell researchers. He also complained that these clinics were located in tourist destinations and unregulated by any international body. "And if anything goes wrong afterwards, it is hushed up to prevent damage to the business," he told the newspaper. Concerned Women for America condemned scientists for using tissue from abortions and embryonic stem cells for the treatments. “This fad illustrates the extremes to which embryonic stem cell use can lead," CWA senior fellow, Dr. Janice Shaw Crouse told LifeNews. “It is hard to believe that such atrocities are going on today." "Not only is the origin of the fetuses immoral and inhumane; there are medical problems and complications associated with the injections," Crouse concluded.
