She was a humble maiden, young in years but wise in the ways of God. The days of her youth had been filled with prayer, anticipation, and faithful adherence to the Law of Moses. Mary (or "Miriam," as she was called in Hebrew) knew that the Messiah would come. Though the time of His coming was a mystery, she waited with patience and expectant faith, performing the common duties of her station, eager for the fulfillment of the prophets' words.
