“To love God as He ought to be loved,God's love proof 3 we must be detached from all temporal love. We must love nothing but Him, or if we love anything else, we must love it only for His sake.”

                              ~St. Peter Claver

For Reflection:

What one “temporal love” am I most attached to? How can I cultivate a spirit of detachment in relation to it. (Hint: See Johnnette’s book, Full of Grace: Women and the Abundant Life, pgs. 95-96).

                FOREWORD

This discussion is certainly needed. The particular "genius of women"--their feminine participation in the covenantal relationship, their unique contribution to redemption, and how they concretely express their gifts in the Church--all of this is commonly misunderstood in the public dialogue and in the Church's own family. The public discourse on the role of women in the Church often centers upon male ecclesial authority and frequently ends up challenging the faith and misconstruing the covenant of redemption between Christ and the Church.
