LifeNews is reporting on Kaine who is a strong supporter of Roe v. Wade in spite of his Catholic roots.
“I have a traditional Catholic personal position, but I am very strongly supportive that women should make these decisions and government shouldn’t intrude,” Kaine has said in the past. “I’m a strong supporter of Roe v. Wade and women being able to make these decisions. In government, we have enough things to worry about. We don’t need to make people’s reproductive decisions for them.”
That Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton would choose someone like Kaine surprised no one in the pro-life movement.
“Like Hillary Clinton, Sen. Tim Kaine supports the current policy of abortion on demand,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life (NRLC). “Like Hillary Clinton, Sen. Kaine is so extreme on abortion he opposes even the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, legislation to protect unborn children from abortion after 20 weeks, when they are capable of feeling excruciating pain during dismemberment or other late abortion methods.”
As the NRLC reports, Kaine consistently votes against the pro-life position. He has voted to allow government funding of abortion providers and sided against legislation to require an abortionist to notify at least one parent before performing an abortion on a minor girl from another state.
The NRLC reports that his most extreme position was his co-sponsorship of the so-called “Women’s Health Protection Act” (S.217), known to pro-lifers as the “Abortion Without Limits Until Birth Act.” This bill was aimed at nullifying nearly all existing state and federal limitations on regulation of abortion, and would prohibit states from enacting meaningful pro-life laws in the future. This revamped version of the long-stalled “Freedom of Choice Act” remains a priority of the pro-abortion forces in Washington, D.C.
“Sen. Kaine is good at hiding behind his Catholic background – but no one should be fooled,”Tobias said. “His record, and his openly declared legislative goals, are as pro-abortion as they come.”
Kaine’s background draws a stark contrast with the vice-presidential pick of billionaire businessman Donald Trump, who chose Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his running mate.
An early leader in efforts to defund Planned Parenthood, the former Senator Pence maintained an exemplary pro-life voting record during his six terms of service in Congress. He actively participated in work on a number of major pro-life bills, including the Partial Birth Abortion Act of 2003 and the Unborn Victims of Violence Act which was enacted in 2004. © All Rights Reserved, Living His Life Abundantly®/Women of Grace® http://www.womenofgrace.com
