FoxNews.com is reporting that Kim's former girlfriend, singer Hyon Song-wol, and 11 other members from three performing groups were arrested on August 17 after being accused of making videos of themselves having sex and selling them in China. They were also accused of possessing bibles, which is a grave crime in North Korea.
Three days after their arrest, they were executed by firing squad.
"They were executed with machine guns while the key members of the Unhasu Orchestra, Wangjaesan Light Band and Moranbong Band as well as the families of the victims looked on," a source told the South Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo.
In addition to the executions, members of the victim's families were all sent to that country's notorious prison camps where an estimated 200,000 people are leading lives of constant torture, malnourishment, and inhumane work hours.
Kim Jong-un is said to have met Hyon Song-wol about 10 years ago, before his marriage to Ri Sol-ju. The couple split up after interference from Kim's father, Kim Jong-Il.
Because Ri Sol-ju was also a member of the Onhasu Orchestra before she married Kim, there is some speculation that she might have played a role in the executions.
