Lesbian Mayor to Speak at Girl Scouts Annual Convention

At a time when Girl Scouts USA is under fire for its association with Planned Parenthood, the New Age, and its choice of controversial role models for girls, the organization appears to be tossing more wood on the flames by choosing to mark its 100th anniversary this year by inviting a prominent lesbian mayor to speak at their annual convention.
GSUSA has announced that Houston mayor Annise Parker, the country's first homosexual mayor of a major city, will be a featured speaker at the organization's 52nd Annual Convention to be held in Houston in November.
Parker, who lives with her partner and their three adopted children, also sits on the board of the pro-abortion Girls, Inc. She can be seen here at a ribbon cutting ceremony marking the opening of the largest Planned Parenthood facility in the Western Hemisphere.
The keynote speaker at the event is pro-abortion journalist Katie Couric whose long career is full of controversial comments ranging from the praise of communist dictator Fidel Castro and Sadam Hussein to throwing her support behind liberal pro-abortion politicians such as Bill and Hillary Clinton while bashing conservative icons such as Ronald Reagan.
But this isn't the first time that the once pro-family GSUSA has presented questionable role models to young girls.
At a Girl Scout Leadership Conference for 2,000 girls held in Indianapolis in 2008, they headlined actress and pro-abortion activist Geena Davis alongside MTV star SuChinPak.
Their 2005 conference featured Dr. Johnnetta Cole, a woman whose radical views forced even the Clinton administration to withdraw her name from consideration for Education Secretary. Aside from being pro-abortion and pro-homosexuality, Cole is on record referring to God as a "she" and bashing Christians who proselytize and people who oppose homosexuality.
Speaking at the same event was Kavita Ramdas, president and CEO of the Global Fund for Women, which, among other things, promotes abortion and feminism.
As investigative reporter Kathryn Jean Lopez pointed out in her seminal work, "The Cookie Crumbles," the Girl Scouts are aggressively promoting a "girl empowerment" ideology whose narrow and narcissistic focus on the self is the polar opposite of the Christian worldview.
As a result, it has become increasingly difficult to deny that this group has become nothing more than the bastian of yesterday's angry feminists.
