Regardless of the outcome of today’s vote in the U.S. House to defund Planned Parenthood, the already bloodied abortion giant suffered more setbacks this week, including the loss of funding from yet another state, the raiding of its clinics by state officials in another, and the embarrassment of being mocked by one of its own supporters for its role in trafficking fetal body parts.
LifeSiteNews.com is reporting that in addition to the recent loss of Medicaid funds in the state of Texas, the Ohio state Senate also passed a bill that will defund Planned Parenthood of all state and some federal taxpayer dollars.
The bill mandates that Ohio "state funds and certain federal funds are not used either to perform or promote non-therapeutic abortions, or to contract or affiliate with any entity that performs or promotes" them.
The full chamber passed Senate Bill 214 by a vote of 23-10. The bill now goes to the House where it is expected to pass.
The law came about as a result of the undercover videos released by the Center for Medical Progress, a pro-life organization that posed as a fetal body parts buyer during an investigation into the macabre underworld of body parts trafficking. The videos captured Planned Parenthood employees picking through aborted body parts, cavalierly discussing the best way to “crush” infants during abortions to get the best parts, and haggling over how to much to charge for the most coveted organs.
"An organization that has one of their people out there saying, 'I want to maximize the amount of money I get out of baby parts so I can get a Lamborghini,' is not an organization that's deserving of public money," said Ohio Senate President Keith Faber.
Meanwhile, agents from the Texas Office of the Inspector General arrived Thursday morning unannounced at Planned Parenthood clinics in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio to confiscate documents related to allegations of Medicaid fraud.
The officials remained several hours at some of the clinics and gave administrators just 24 hours to deliver documents to them.
As usual, the abortion giant, who routinely resorts to politics to get its way in Washington, complained that the raid was “politically motivated” and said they were given too little time to produce the documents during what they call "a fishing expedition.”
This is only after the state sent a letter to Melaney Linton, CEO of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast (PPGC), an outfit which was very much involved in the baby parts scandal, informing them that they were being cut off from Medicaid funds.
The raid prompted another round of politically charged rhetoric from the organization with Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America saying: “It is completely outrageous that Texas officials are using these thoroughly discredited, fraudulent videos to cut women off from preventive health care, including cancer screenings, HIV testing, and birth control.”
Meanwhile, a liberal-leaning publication known as The Onion published a satire entitled, "Defunded Planned Parenthood Reassures Supporters It Has Enough Fetus Cash To Keep Going" in which it features a mock interview with Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards.
“While the decision by Texas to eliminate taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood is unfortunate, I want everyone to know that we have an ample supply of sweet baby-organ cabbage to continue providing our services,” Richards supposedly says in the piece.
“Lawmakers remain determined to deny reproductive health care to women in need, and if not for our golden baby-parts goose, they well may have succeeded. But rest assured that with our mad stacks of aborted-fetus bucks, the future of Planned Parenthood is as secure as ever.”
The piece concludes: “Richards added that even as she was speaking, Planned Parenthood employees were busy squeezing some extra green out of whatever embryos they had left in the back.”
Naturally, abortion supporters went ballistic over the piece, sending our furious tweets such as “Not funny!” and "Stop!"
In summary of the dust-up, Newsbuster’s Erin Aitcheson writes: “It’s a classic showing of how liberals are so quick to dish it out but when it’s them on the other end of things, they certainly can’t take it. Although the piece is only satire it does bear a striking resemblance to the true nature of Planned Parenthood and its callous practices.”
If even its own supporters are taking stabs at them, it shows just how much damage control Planned Parenthood has left to do before it can even hope to put this scandal behind them.
As if this news isn't bad enough, a hacker just managed to get his hands on all of the remaining eleven videos which a court has prohibited from being released to the public, an event that will only bring more PR nightmares to Planned Parenthood.
