CBS 5 is reporting that the incident was one of two separate cases currently under investigation that involve the participation of second graders in the teacher's class last week.
"In one case, several students apparently took off their clothes and were naked in the classroom," CBS reports. "In the second incident, a boy and girl reportedly engaged in oral sex in front of their classmates."
The teacher, whose name has not been released, was apparently present during both incidents.
Pam Booker, the principal of Markham Elementary, sent a letter home to parents in which she apologized for the incidents, saying they “represent an unacceptable lack of supervision. I understand there is great anger over this news.”
Parents were understandably appalled by the news.
"How about second graders even knowing to do that?" Tiffany Martinez, a mother of a student at the school, asked KTVU.
"I still don't know how that could happen," said Alan Saunders, the father of a student. "They're imitating what they're seeing. They didn't learn it at school."
All of the students who witnessed the incidents, as well as those involved, are receiving counseling.

An elementary school teacher at Markham Elementary School in Oakland, California has been suspended indefinitely after a pair of second-graders stripped and two others performed oral sex in class while the teacher looked on.
