WHTM is reporting that the statement was made in conjunction with the call for school vouchers which would enable parents to send their child to the school of their choice as well as keep private and Catholic schools open.
"Vouchers would help the situation immeasurably because it would give justice to the parents, they would finally get a chance to use their tax dollars for their child's education," he said.
Closing Catholic schools is bad for society, McFadden said, and would leave few alternatives to schools that indoctrinate children in ways many parents find unacceptable.
"In totalitarian governments, they would love our system," he said. "This is what Hitler and Mussolini and all those tried to establish a monolith so all the children would be educated in one set of beliefs and one way of doing things."
The comments were made just weeks after the Archdiocese of Philadelphia was force to shutter 44 schools, many of which might have been saved if a school voucher system was in place.
