According to the Daily Mail, the e-card was posted on the Obama 2012 campaign website, but remained there for only a few hours before it became apparent that women were not pleased with the degrading message. The card, which features a woman dressed as a 1920's flapper, sparked a wave of fierce consternation.
Twitter user @EmilyMiller tweeted: "President Obama, quit worrying about my lady parts and start worrying about my wallet, OK?"
@Gabby_Hoffman wrote: "Dear Obama Re-election Campaign: I'm a woman who votes with her brain, not her lady parts. Stop denigrating us, Democrats."
Twitter user Lori Ziganto wrote: "My lady parts can't wait to hit the voting booth where I will vote using my brain. My daughter depends on it."
Within hours, the campaign had removed the card from its site.
