California Attorney General Kamala Harris, one of Planned Parenthood’s staunchest supporters, has obtained a warrant to search and seize David Daleiden's property in retaliation against his investigation into Planned Parenthood's trade in fetal body parts.
According to the Life Legal Defense Fund, which is representing Daleiden in three civil cases filed against him by the abortion industry, Harris is making good on her earlier threats to pursue Daleiden after the first undercover video was released last July. Yesterday, Department of Justice agents searched David's home and took away many of his personal belongings.
The timing of the warrant appears suspect, as only days ago LA Times reporter Robin Abcarian taunted Harris by asking "What's taking California so long?" to dispense "swift poetic justice" to David Daleiden and his Center for Medical Progress.
Kamala Harris is a staunch supporter of Planned Parenthood and received campaign donations from five separate Planned Parenthood affiliates during the last election cycle. These affiliates are the beneficiaries of millions of dollars in state and federal funds annually - a portion of which is funneled into political campaigns so the billion-dollar abortion cartel can call in favors as needed.
In a series of undercover videos, David Daleiden exposed Planned Parenthood officials skirting or violating federal laws governing fetal tissue harvesting. The CEO of California-based StemExpress is shown discussing "making it financially beneficial" for abortion providers to sell aborted babies to fetal tissue brokers. StemExpress is currently resisting subpoenas from Congress seeking information related to purchasing the bodies of intact and dismembered human fetuses from Planned Parenthood.
"California's Attorney General has decided that her loyalty to Planned Parenthood requires her to turn a blind eye to the organization's criminal activities," notes Life Legal Defense Foundation Executive Director Alexandra Snyder. "Instead, she has launched an inquisition into David Daleiden, starting with the seizure of his private property and papers."
Daleiden condemned the raid on his personal property, claiming that Harris, "who was elected with tens of thousands of dollars from taxpayer-funded Planned Parenthood" seized all footage showing the abortion giant's criminal trade in aborted baby parts along with personal information.
"Ironically, while seizing my First Amendment work product, they ignored documents showing the illicit scheme between StemExpress and Planned Parenthood. This is no surprise–Planned Parenthood’s bought-and-paid-for AG has steadfastly refused to enforce the law against the baby body parts traffickers in our state, or even investigate them–while at the same time doing their bidding to harass and intimidate citizen journalists."
Harris took action just days after the Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives in the U.S. House of Representatives held its first hearing on March 2 to examine the bioethics of fetal tissue harvesting and experimentation. The hearing included a review of the patient consent form used by Planned Parenthood to get permission to harvest aborted baby parts.
During the course of the hearing, Dr. Lawrence Goldstein, a scientist from the University of California at San Diego and a long time financial donor to Planned Parenthood, admitted that the form, which promises mothers that body parts from their aborted babies would be used in therapies to treat diseases such as diabetes, cancer and AIDS, was a misrepresentation. Fetal body parts are not being used in any current therapy to treat those conditions, which is why Goldstein was forced to admit that this promise amounted to “an inappropriate statement” of the facts.
In response to the hearing, David Daleiden called upon law enforcement in Planned Parenthood-friendly jurisdictions to “stop wasting taxpayer resources to assist Planned Parenthood in harassing citizen journalists, and should stop ignoring the evidence of real fraud, baby body parts trafficking, and criminal abortion practices right in their own backyard.”
In regard to today's raid, Daleiden has promised to "pursue all remedies to vindicate our First Amendment rights."
