The “PC police” are at it again! This time, lawmakers in the UK are asking the UN to remove the term “pregnant woman” from a treaty because it “excludes” the transgendered.
The Daily Mail is reporting on the request by ministers who are members of the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office who are asking the UN to remove the term “pregnant woman” from the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and replace it with "pregnant people."
“We requested that the UN human rights committee made it clear that the same right extends to pregnant transgender people,” the Foreign Office said in a statement.
Under this treaty, pregnant women are given special protections and cannot be subject to the death penalty. In this case, these protections would apply to women who are now calling themselves “men” but who kept their reproductive organs.
For once, feminists rose up to condemn the idea, such as feminist writer Sarah Ditum who told the Sunday Times: “This isn’t inclusion. This is making women unmentionable.”
She continued: “Having a female body and knowing what that means for reproduction doesn't make you 'exclusionary'. Forcing us to decorously scrub out any reference to our sex on pain of being called bigots is an insult.”
Ditum has good cause to object to this planned revision because it not only defies human reason, it celebrates a deliberate distortion of the sexes all for the sake of being politically correct.
As the National Catholic Bioethics Center states so clearly, “ . . . [A] person is either male or female. A person is the unity of soul and body, and ‘soul’ should be understood not as an immaterial self, but as that which makes the body be what it is, namely, a human person. We are either male or female persons, and nothing can change that. A person can mutilate his or her genitals, but cannot change his or her sex. Changing one’s sex is fundamentally impossible . . .”
And yet lawmakers continue to press for these misguided and nonsensical changes that will do nothing more than leave our Western culture even more confused than it already is.
