Mothers of Gardasil-Injured Girls Issue Challenge to Doctors

By Susan Brinkmann, OCDS Staff Journalist In response to bioethicists who are offering thousands of dollars in prize money to anyone who can prove the controversial Gardasil vaccine injures girls, a group of mothers whose daughters were injured by the vaccine are challenging the experts to "put your science where your wallet is." Marian Greene, president and founder of the Truth About Gardasil website which contains hundreds of testimonials from mothers of girls who have been injured by the cervical cancer vaccine, is adding her voice to the controversy started by GOP presidential candidate Michelle Bachmann in the wake of last week's debate in Tampa. While defending her criticism of fellow candidate and Texas governor Rick Perry for mandating the vaccine in his state, Bachmann told Fox News that a mother approached her after the debate to say her child suffered a mental disability as a result of the vaccine. The comment touched off a furor among health professionals who say there is no scientific proof that Gardasil causes such injuries. One of Bachmann's critics is Dr. Arthur Caplan, director of the University of Pennsylvania Bioethics Center who offered Bachmann $10,000 if she could produce solid evidence to support her claim. Dr. Stephen Miles of the University of Minnesota also offered cash for proof, saying he'd give $1,000 if the woman who made the claim to Bachmann will agree to produce the medical records and allow them to be reviewed by a doctor. But mothers whose daughters have been injured by the vaccine are urging the doctors to do more than just criticize the report and the so-called "mystery illness" that so many girls are coming down with after receiving the injection. "The challenge is for you to spend some time with these young people you so casually dismiss," Greene says in a press release. "See how they are suffering on a daily basis, and put your science where your wallet is. We propose you spend that $10,000 helping those suffering from this vaccine." She goes on to say that these mothers have all heard the same claim by doctors who say they don't know why their previously healthy children are now experiencing seizures and other serious maladies, but who insist that Gardasil is not the cause. "Well, prove to us what is," Greene says. "More importantly - find a cure for these innocent souls suffering such devastating and disabling new medical conditions. Especially, since the majority of these 'mysterious conditions' are listed on the package insert that comes with each and every vial of this vaccine." According to VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Effects Reporting System), there have been 23,388 reports of injury and at least 103 deaths in connection with the HPV vaccine. The Truth About Gardasil website gives mothers of affected girls a chance to tell their stories and offer support to one another in their quest for a cure. Injuries listed on the site range from dizziness, weakness, fainting and rashes to seizures, strokes, paralysis and even death. Greene says she has spoken to, or corresponded with, thousands of people from around the world who all had the same experience - their daughters were normal, healthy, active people who went into a doctor's office one day to receive the Garasil vaccine and a short time later found their lives turned upside down. The only thing these people have in common in this vaccine, Greene says. "So, I beg you, instead of trying to make these weary people prove to you that Gardasil® is the cause of these New Medical Conditions, prove to us that Gardasil is NOT the cause. Use that science you are so proud of to help these people find a cure and regain their quality of life! That same science, Sir, we all trusted - before Gardasil ripped their lives apart. Please Dr.Caplan, restore our faith, and more importantly accept our challenge offered on behalf of the thousands and thousands of people suffering since getting Gardasil." Greene is extending the same challenge to all interested parties to find a cure or a way to alleviate the symptoms girls are developing after receiving the Gardasil vaccine. "We ask you to please help find something that will make our injured young people better so they can live a happy life free of pain and suffering." © All Rights Reserved, Living His Life Abundantly®/Women of Grace®  http://www.womenofgrace.com
