NBC 10 is reporting on the incident that occurred in a Target store located in Evesham, New Jersey where a woman was trying on clothes in the fitting room. She looked down and saw a man’s hand holding a cell-phone creep under the curtain. The woman tried to confront the man but he ran out of the store.
Police have since identified the suspect as Francis Vain of Williamstown and have charged him with first- and third-degree invasion of privacy. He has been released on his own recognizance.
Even more troubling, investigators say they found 100’s of images on his phone and laptop indicating that he has been doing this for some time and in a variety of locations. Police are in the process of carrying out search warrants to get the data from his phone and laptop and go through the images in an attempt to pinpoint where and when they took place.
The incident has once again shone a spotlight on Target’s irresponsible bathroom policy that allows men to enter dressing rooms where innocent women and children are at risk.
“In effect, Target employees who work in clothing departments (most often women) are to turn a blind eye and allow potentially illegal activity to occur in their very presence without raising any objection to stop it,” says Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association (AFA).
“As long as Target continues to allow men free and unrestricted access into women's dressing rooms and restrooms, these sexual violations against women and little girls will continue to occur.”
The AFA is encouraging concerned citizens to sign the boycott pledge against Target and call the company headquarters at 612-304-6043 to personally let them know that you are boycotting the stores until they rescind this reckless policy.
