Daleiden Attorneys Want Judge Disqualified

Lawyers representing David Daleiden, the videographer who released damning footage of abortion industry workers trafficking in fetal body parts in 2015, have filed a motion to have the judge in the case disqualified because of his ties to Planned Parenthood.

LifeSiteNews is reporting on the motion filed against U.S. District Judge William Orrick who issued a gag order preventing release of any more videos revealing abortion industry workers trafficking in human body parts taken by Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress (CMP). Attorneys want Orrick removed from the case because he served on the board of the Good Samaritan Family Resource Center (GSFRC) which not only houses a Planned Parenthood clinic but considers Planned Parenthood to be a “key partnership.”

In addition, Orrick’s wife is a supporter of NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League) and has criticized Daleiden’s Center for Medical Progress as a “sham organization run by extremists.”

In 2015, Mrs. Orrick ‘pinkified’ her Facebook page and added “I stand with Planned Parenthood” as a Facebook profile picture overlay.

As CMP attorneys explain in the motion: “Planned Parenthood urged its supporters to add these elements to their Facebook pages as part of a campaign orchestrated specifically in response to the release of videos by Mr. Daleiden and CMP. 'Pinkifying' showed one’s support for Planned Parenthood and one ’s belief that the videos were fraudulent.”

Judge Orrick was also a major financial backer of pro-abortion former president Barack Obama, raising at least $200,000 for Obama and donating more than $30,000 to committees supporting the former president.

The law states that “any justice, judge, or magistrate judge of the United States shall disqualify himself in any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned.”

Orrick denied bias and questioned whether or not the motion was filed to delay the contempt hearing, which was scheduled to take place on Wednesday of this week.

This hearing was in relation to the release of more footage of fetal body part trafficking by Daleiden attorneys, Steve Cooley and Brentford J. Ferreira, that contained a compilation of the most shocking statements made by abortionists at the conference, such as how abortionists “pull off a leg or two” and “eyeballs drop into their laps” during abortion procedures. Orrick ordered Daleiden and his attorneys to appear in court on June 14 to face contempt of court charges for violating the gag order by releasing the videos.

However, he was forced to postpone the hearing and said the request to remove him would be referred to another judge selected at random, which is in accordance with court rules.
