Wizarding World of Harry Potter Castle (Wikicommons: Carlos Cruz)

Even though the Harry Potter series is finished, these wizardry tales remain the most widely-read books among youth. But as this world-renowned exorcist warns, just because they’re popular and everyone’s reading them, doesn’t make them safe.

Lenten Journey with the Saints: Day 29

April 3

"Are you capable of risking your life for someone? Do it for Christ."

- St. John Paul II

Today's Reflection

There are occassions when in prayer, we are filled with zeal, and a willingness to risk everything for the Lord. But most of the time "risking your life for someone" is the small act of laying down your pride, your way of doing things, your ideas, your opinions. It means being humble and obedient to the will of God. Risk your life for Christ today in the big and small ways in which He leads you.

Can I pray to St. Expedite?

St. Expeditus (WikiCommon: Piotr Rymuza)

LB writes: “Is praying a novena to this saint okay? I’ve read different things about leaving an offering of pound cake and that some people that practice voodoo pray to this saint. "As Lent is the time for greater love, listen to Jesus’ thirst…He knows your weakness. He wants only your love, wants only the chance to love you.”
– St. Teresa of Calcutta
Today's Reflection
How is Jesus thirsting for your love? Is it time with Him? Is He calling you to forgive? Does He want you to love someone you find to be a challenge to love? Spend some quiet time today asking the Lord how you can quench His thirst.

Poll: Majority of New Yorkers Oppose Radical Abortion Law

Commentary by Susan Brinkmann, OCDS

In yet another example of a small minority of people imposing their will on the majority, a new poll has found that the overwhelming majority of New York state residents not only oppose late-term term but would limit abortion to the first three months of pregnancy - which means most residents oppose the radical Reproductive Health Act passed in January.

Unplanned Rocks the Box Office

Commentary by Susan Brinkmann, OCDS

In spite of its low budget, a limited number of screens, an unexpected R rating, and the suspicious last- minute suspension of its Twitter account, the pro-life biopic, Unplanned, had a spectacular opening weekend at the box office, making it into the top five films.
